Course Overview

Blood Pressure Balance is the only course of its type in the UK that is proven to reduce high blood pressure using a combination of mindfulness and breath work practices. We were commissioned to develop this programme by the NHS, and it provides a practical, research-informed programme that supports people with high blood pressure.

While hypertension increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, many people find it challenging to take medication consistently, and often seek additional ways to improve their wellbeing. This programme was created in response to that need.

Is This Course For You?

This programme is designed for people with high blood pressure, who are over the age of 65. We ask that participants commit to attending at least 5 of the 6 sessions, and that they also commit to the guided home practices.

What to Expect

The group runs over six consecutive weeks; you’ll meet in a closed, supportive group, followed by a focus group to reflect on your experience. After the course, you’ll have the option to join or create a Community of Practice, to continue engaging in the practices together.

  • Online via Zoom, daytime hours for accessibility

  • Led by a BAMBA-Registered Mindfulness Teacher

  • Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions to fully benefit

  • Home practice consists of one of the following each week: Mindfulness, breathing techniques or yoga

  • Access to guided recordings and downloadable handouts

  • 20-30 minutes per day at a pace that suits you

  • Brief questionnaires before, during, and after the course track your progress

  • You’ll receive a personalised outcomes report, showing the impact of your practice
