Positive Neuropsychology

What is Positive Neuropsychology?
Positive Neuropsychology is a personalised, strengths-based way of understanding and supporting your brain health in later life.
Rather than focusing on diagnosis or deficits, this approach looks at how your brain is functioning now - identifying areas of strength, areas that may benefit from support, and practical ways to maintain and enhance cognitive wellbeing over time. We developed this offer in response to a growing interest from older adults who want clear, individualised guidance about memory, attention, thinking, and overall brain health - without needing a formal diagnosis.
All assessments are overseen by a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in neuropsychology within NHS settings. We also use this work to support the development of psychology trainees, for whom competence in neuropsychological assessment is a core requirement. This ensures high standards, careful supervision, and thoughtful, ethical practice. Positive Neuropsychology reflects our long-standing belief that understanding how the brain works should be used not only to identify difficulties, but to support wellbeing, confidence, and quality of life in later years.

-
Sessions are arranged at times that work for you

A supportive, structured conversation about your health, lifestyle, and goals
Benefits
Neuropsychology is particularly helpful in pinpointing specific patterns in how your brain works.General advice such as “do puzzles” or “eat certain foods” can be helpful, but it is often too broad. People benefit far more from evidence based, targeted recommendations that reflect their own cognitive profile, health background, and lifestyle.

By the end of the process, you can expect:
-
A clearer understanding of your cognitive strengths
-
Insight into areas that may benefit from support
-
Practical, personalised strategies to promote brain health
-
Greater confidence in managing changes over time
Cost and Accessibility
We know that neuropsychological assessments are often difficult to access and expensive.

To make this support more widely available, sessions are offered at a 50% subsidised rate of £50 per session.
