Mind Cog
Personalised Cognitive Wellbeing Support for Later Life
Course Overview
Mind Cog is a personalised cognitive wellbeing service designed for older adults who are experiencing changes in memory, attention, concentration, confidence, or thinking skills, or who have received a diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI).

Developed by Clinical Psychologists, Mind Cog combines Positive Neuropsychology, cognitive wellbeing research, and evidence-informed lifestyle approaches to help people better understand their brain health and identify practical ways to support cognitive wellbeing in later life.
Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all service, Mind Cog begins with understanding the individual.
Why Was Mind Cog Developed?
Many people who receive a diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) are left wondering:
"What happens next?"

Research increasingly shows that MCI is highly heterogeneous. People experience cognitive changes for many different reasons, and there can be significant variation in memory, attention, mood, sleep, physical health, social connection, and day-to-day functioning.

As a result, generic interventions often produce mixed results because what helps one person may be very different from what helps another.

At The Mindful Life Group, we believe that meaningful support begins with understanding the individual rather than simply focusing on the diagnosis.
Our Positive Neuropsychology Approach
Positive Neuropsychology is an emerging field that focuses on cognitive strengths, resilience, adaptation, and wellbeing alongside the identification of cognitive difficulties.
Rather than asking only:"What is wrong?"
we also ask:"What is working well?"
and"What can be strengthened?"
Our approach recognises that cognitive wellbeing is influenced by many interconnected factors, including:

-
Physical health
-
Sleep quality
-
Emotional wellbeing
-
Social connection
-
Physical activity
-
Nutrition
-
Cognitive strengths
-
Meaningful activities and purpose
Understanding these factors can help identify opportunities to support healthy cognitive ageing and quality of life.

Why Take a Personalised Approach?
Research increasingly suggests that there is no single intervention that works for everyone experiencing cognitive change.

Factors such as physical health, mood, sleep, social connection, lifestyle, and personal circumstances all influence cognitive wellbeing.

This means that understanding the person behind the symptoms is often more important than the diagnosis itself.

By starting with a detailed Positive Neuropsychology assessment, we can identify strengths, protective factors, and opportunities for supporting cognitive wellbeing in ways that are meaningful and relevant to each individual.
A Different Conversation about Brain Health
At The Mindful Life Group, we believe that cognitive healthcare should involve more than identifying difficulties. It should also help people understand their strengths, build confidence, maintain independence, and support quality of life. Mind Cog reflects a growing movement within psychology and neuroscience that views brain health not simply as the absence of disease, but as the presence of resilience, capability, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement with life.
