A 5 Minute "Mindful Cuppa" Meditation

That morning cup of tea or coffee is more than just a caffeine hit - it’s a built-in opportunity for mindfulness. Learn to savour your cuppa and find calm in the ritual. Read the guidance or listen to the audio file below and follow along.




Your Guided Mindful Cuppa:


  1. Prepare with presence: As you boil the kettle and get your mug, slow down. Listen to the sound of the water heating. Notice the weight of the mug and the texture of the tea bag or coffee granules. 

  2. Observe the brew: Pour the hot water. Watch the steam rise. See the colours swirl and merge. Breathe in the rich, comforting aroma deeply. What can you smell?

  3. Feel the warmth: Wrap your hands around the warm mug. Feel the heat spreading into your palms. Take a moment to appreciate this simple, comforting sensation.

  4. Sip and savour: Take your first sip. Let the liquid rest in your mouth for a moment. What are the subtle flavours? Is it bitter, sweet, or smooth? Notice the sensation as you swallow.

  5. Continue sipping mindfully: Carry this attentive awareness through your drink. There’s no need to rush. When your mind drifts to your to-do list, gently bring it back to the next sip, the next scent, the next sensation of warmth.
